Clubs & networks
Radio clubs by region
Clubs and linked repeater networks own and coordinate most wide-area systems. Find the group behind the frequencies in your state, or register your own club so operators nearby can join.

Linked networks — HAM
Amateur linking networks
Linking repeaters over the internet is an amateur radio practice. PulseYard lists linked networks under HAM only, because Part 95 Subpart E does not give GMRS stations a way to carry traffic over a network — no matter which platform does the bridging. Compare them before you buy hardware: the node you build is only as useful as the hubs and nets on it.
AllStarLink
Analog FM over VoIP (Asterisk / app_rpt)
Open network of node numbers that bridges analog FM repeaters and simplex nodes. Nodes join and leave hubs on the fly, which is how most wide-area amateur nets run.

EchoLink
Analog FM over VoIP (callsign-validated)
Validates every user against their amateur licence before granting access, then connects repeaters, links and desktop users worldwide.
Gear: PC or Pi node, or the phone app for licensed operators
IRLP
Analog FM over VoIP (closed, node-vetted)
The oldest amateur linking network. Nodes are hand-vetted and RF-only, so there are no computer-to-repeater users — favoured by clubs that want strict control.
Gear: Pi/PC node with an IRLP interface board
Brandmeister
DMR talkgroups
The largest amateur DMR network. Talkgroups replace node numbers, and hotspots let one operator cover a house or vehicle.
Gear: DMR radio + MMDVM hotspot or a DMR repeater
Wires-X / YSF Reflectors
Yaesu System Fusion (C4FM digital)
Fusion rooms and open-source YSF reflectors link Fusion repeaters and hotspots, with analog crossover on many rooms.
Gear: Fusion radio + Wires-X node or MMDVM hotspot
