Japan
Japan is as structured as the UK, just documented in Japanese. The anchor entry is the nationwide Saturday D-STAR roll call across linked repeaters; club and branch roll calls are numerous, so we re-check each one against its club's own page rather than aggregator listings.
Spectrum regulator — the FCC equivalent
MIC
Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications
The MIC is Japan's FCC equivalent, licensing both the operator and the station itself.
National amateur society
JARL
Japan Amateur Radio League
Exams, band plans and the club network — the local counterpart to the ARRL.
Nets in Japan
No nets published for Japan yet. We add them once a national society or regulator source confirms the schedule and frequency.
Times are as published locally. Club and branch nets shift frequency and time more often than national broadcasts — always check the source link before you tune up.
Notes and gotchas
- There is no GB2RS-style on-air news bulletin — JARL publishes JARL NEWS in print and supports community-FM programmes instead.
- JARL band-plan emergency spot frequencies include 3535, 7050, 14300, 18160 and 21360 kHz, plus 28.20, 50.10, 51.50, 144.10, 145.50, 430.10, 433.50 and 1294.00 MHz. Digital call/emergency spots sit at 51.30, 145.30 and 433.30 MHz.
- The often-quoted 7.030 MHz was a one-off request during the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake. The standing 40m designated spot is 7.050 MHz — we publish the band plan, not the 2011 list.
- Freshness pass (September 2026): the Chigasaki Safety Community club roll call is confirmed on the club's own page — 3rd Saturday monthly from 20:00 JST, 433.52 MHz FM, non-members welcome.
- The Totsuka club roll call is still marked 'verify': the club is plainly active (53 members as of April 2025) but its site publishes no current roll-call schedule, so we show the entry as unconfirmed rather than quietly restating an old figure.
